Yoga Classes
Research has shown the importance of aerobic activity not only for cancer survivorship, but also for prevention. The subtle, easy movements of yoga can be especially beneficial for post-surgical breast patients as the movements are designed to help return fluidity and range of motion to the shoulder and rib cage region.
For those reasons, Genesis Cancer Center and Hot Springs Health and Fitness are joining forces in a pilot project to begin October 2nd, 2008. We will be offering an upcoming wellness class held for breast cancer patients in need of gentle movement classes and the support of others with the disease. Participants will vary in age and stage of treatment. The program will focus on managing fatigue, weakness, lymphedema, joint or bone pain, and other common issues that survivors often experience on the road to recovery. It is a ten-week course, offering two movement/yoga classes a week instructed by licensed physical trainers. Our on site clinical social worker will also be available to the class participants offering support services.
